Just discovered the newly opened Raven used Books on Newbury and am thrilled. I am a big fan of their Harvard Square shop and this one similarly has great books and very good prices. This shop tends more toward literature and the arts (especially monographs, photography and architecture) buts still retains very good sections for history and philosophy.

It is an incredible bookstore. I am a lover of the sciences, literature, art, religion and there are a plethora of books on each. It's also incredibly beautiful inside. It smells of new wood, and the window in the back gives the perfect lighting. I really love it here. Plus, the guy who works there is extremely friendly and helpful. It makes me really happy to go here.

I'm one of those people who frequently lament the loss of so many downtown Boston bookstores . . . but then Raven opened a second store right on Newbury Street, and the place is a gem! Professional staff, well-organized books (fiction and non, gently used and remaindered) in excellent condition at fair prices, and ALWAYS something new. What a treat to browse there.
